Known to be quiet and dignified in the home. The Afghan is best suited to an active, calm owner who can keep up with the necessary, intense daily exercise and be quite happy to lounge with the dog indoors - relaxed & willing to ritually groom the dog as needed for both coat maintenance and bonding purposes. The Afghan is a willing, but not forced "team player".

Brief History
With the name deriving from Afghanistan, the Afghan Hound was used as a sight hound to locate prey. Although not as fast as a Greyhound, the Afghan has the added build (high hipbones) for agility, helping the breed to excel in the hunt over rugged terrain.
