A Complete Training Package with a guarantee of success.
Royvon's unique Complete Training Package 3 week or intensive 10-day residential courses are designed to teach dogs and their owners basic obedience and behaviour management for family-friendly living. Our dog obedience training at our two dog training schools provides a quick and easy solution to dog behaviour. The programme ensures sound general control regardless of the distraction, first by training your dog, then teaching the necessary reinforcement skills to you, the owner.
So confident are we of our dog training methods that we are able to guarantee this. When your dog has completed our 'Complete Training Package', if we can't demonstrate to you that your dog is obedient we won't charge you a penny!
4 easy steps to having an obedient dog.
- You tell us about your dog
We provide a detailed questionnaire so that we can obtain the necessary information from you regarding the dog's behaviour and history.
- Dog training
Your dog will be trained by professional trainers according to our set standards and to your requirements.
- Owner training
Course includes owner theory training while your dog is being trained; then you receive practical hands on training on course completion from your dedicated trainer
- Dog at home
We will provide you with the information and techniques you need and unlimited on-going support to help you when you return home.
How do we train your dog?
Royvon's primary training techniques use positive reinforcement- a dog is rewarded for desired behaviour and not rewarded for unwanted behaviour. At no time are harsh methods used. Timing and consistency are key elements as are general confidence, body language, use of voice, appropriate use of equipment and motivational rewards for the dog.
Dogs vary in temperament and confidence just as much as people do so our Trainer will use his/her experience to tailor your dog's training course to suit your dog's characteristics. That is one of the reasons we get such good training outcomes.
At the end of the training the obedience skills your dog has learned will be demonstrated to you, your trainer will then teach you the commands and techniques involved so you can continue to reinforce the training at home.
Set Standard Exercises
A series of basic set standard exercises are taught to build the foundation from which to add any training on any specific areas of concern and importance requested by the dog's owners. Training takes place in a variety of environments and distraction situations.
These exercises include -
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Walk to Heel
- Recall
- Appropriate Social Behaviour
- Safe Handling
- Walk to heel on and off lead
- Directional turns
- Controlled play
Training Routine
The school operates seven days a week, 12 months of the year. Dogs are exercised and/or trained on a daily basis to match their individual learning needs. Sessions may be short or long and are held as often as necessary with the understanding that flexibility is a key element to effective training. We aim to train our dog guests without compromise to the dog's health and happiness. Extra grooming and pampering options are available upon request.
Course Requirements
The Complete Training Package is open to all dogs over the age of six months, with the intensive (10 day) course only available to pre-qualified dogs under the age of two. If in doubt about your dog's suitability please ask us or book an assessment.
All dogs require proof of inoculation, including the additional vaccination against Kennel Cough, which must be administered at least one week prior to course commencement.
Should the Trainer feel that the dog would not benefit from the programme following their Assessment, the owner will have the option of extending the course requirements to meet the set standard, or cancelling the course and having the deposit refunded.
The Assessment
All dogs are allocated one main Trainer for the duration of the course. Within the first seven days of the course, the Trainer will schedule a telephone Assessment with the owner to discuss the dog profile questionnaire, Trainer assessment, expectations for the course, methods used and the owner responsibility at course conclusion.
Progress Reporting
Dog owners will receive regular training reports and training preparation material from the Royvon Team throughout the course. They will also be provided a unique login number to check their dog's progress chart via the Royvon web site. Additionally, Trainers make personal contact with their trainee's owners as needed and as often as they are able to do so. Royvon Team contact numbers are made available to all residential customers.
Pre-Training Session: A free pre-training session may be scheduled mid-way through the course to help owners better understand and prepare for their role as dog handler. This is a unique benefit only offered by Royvon! Owners are asked to discuss this with their Trainer when the dog's assessment is discussed.
Demonstration
The Royvon demonstration is scheduled on the final day of the course, where the dog's Trainer presents all the obedience exercises learned throughout the training. A Royvon Guide escorts the owners to the demonstration to talk through the exercises shown, answer questions and address all comments in preparation for the tuition.
Owner Tuition
The Royvon owner tuition takes place following the demonstration. This is where the Trainer works hands-on with the owner and the trained dog to pass on the skills and techniques used in the dog's training. Extensive training notes and regular training reports are provided to all dog owners before the tuition, which they are asked to read thoroughly in preparation for the tuition and dog's return home. Practical training, behaviour management, motivational tools and other equipment is reviewed and discussed to ensure the owner is completely comfortable and confident to assume the role as dog handler.
Follow-up / Aftercare
The ultimate success of the dog's training is paramount to Royvon. Included in our fee is 6 months of continued support, if required, to ensure that the owner has the desired level of control. This support is not limited - it's ongoing from the day your dog leaves Royvon for up to 6 months after and is in the form of written support, telephone support and further owner training at either of our training schools. If you require your trainer to come to your home we can arrange this but there is a charge for this service.
