Dog Training for English Springer Spaniels and English Springer Spaniel puppies
 |
The English Springer Spaniel is one of the country's favourite as they are highly friendly, affectionate, eager to please, quick to learn and enthusiastic hunters, making them an exceptional pet companion and working dog. But, they also have incredible stamina and without a focused mind, they can be a tornado of vocal energy leaving a path of destruction in their wake.
Any dog without properly channelled energy is not a happy dog and squashing this breed's naturally happy spirit through frustration or "quick fix" and overly harsh obedience training is like squashing the Springer Spaniel's very being. They are so willing to obey if only they had the gentle and kind attention from their owner to show them the way. In addition, training may be incorporated in alignment with the owner's lifestyle with the dog, meaning that simple games will teach desired tasks, whether that be work or family oriented.

One of Royvon's specialties with Springer Spaniels is teaching such "creative obedience" through listening to the owner's intended lifestyle with the dog and creating exercises that are easy and fun for the family to practice. And, when obedience is fun with a fun-loving dog, what better way and reason to own a dog!?!
Royvon specialise in recall training for English Springer Spaniels.

Breed Awareness/Management |
Eager to please, and a tail wagger by nature, the Springer Spaniel responds well to obedience training. |
Do not squash this dog's friendly & cheerful spirit by using sharp or harsh training methods, as the Springer is very willing and takes immense pride in responding to clear & purposeful reinforcements. |
The Springer Spaniel is an adaptable, social breed that is known to be good with children and friendly to strangers. |
First and foremost, this is still a very lively & active dog that requires a lot of mental & physical exercise. A bored, under stimulated Springer can be destructive and noisy. |
Show lines do not hunt like Springers from field lines, with the fields lines bred smaller, shorter-coated and slightly different markings for sport. Both lines, however, make good family pets.
|
There are many Springers and Springer breeders out there, so it's best to choose the type that best suits your lifestyle and find a reputable breeder. Poor breeders are liable to produce over-exaggerated characteristics, such as hyperactivity & bizarre phobias. |
Usually cheerful & playful, there are still some more laid-back and reserved Springer Spaniels. |
Regardless of your Springer's temperament, socialise early and pro-actively with as many people, animals & environments as possible to help ensure a well-balanced dog for life. |
