Royvon runners-up in Boarding Establishment of the Year award

Royvon Dog Training Schools, headquartered at Incline Top, Merthyr Tydfil, were runners-up in the highly coveted "Animal Boarding Establishment of the Year" award in the 2011 Pet Industry Awards.

Royvon, a family run company which celebrated 50 years of caring for dogs last year, has developed from a modest boarding kennels to one of the UK's leading dog training and boarding businesses with large, well-equipped premises in Merthyr and Esher, Surrey.

The award, sponsored by The Pet Care Trust, was announced on 20th September at the Pet Industry Awards dinner in the prestigeous Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.

In announcing the Award the judges said "This was a very close category and the judges had a hard choice between the finalists."

Victory was especially sweet for 3C's Boarding Cattery in Camberley, winners of the Animal Boarding Establishment category. Owner Colin Williamson also received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 53 years' commitment and dedication to the pet trade.

The Awards are based on evidence in a written submission which included commercial success, customer service and satisfaction, staff training, the environment, green credentials and entrepreneurial flair - together with an inspection of short listed premises.

Royvon Managing Director Darren James said," We were absolutely delighted to have been finalists for this award which recognises all the effort the management and staff at Royvon have put in to build our hard-earned reputation for high quality pet care. Over the years we have developed the business from a basic dog boarding service to the point where Royvon Dog Training Schools now offer the widest possible range of boarding services including Residential Dog Training, a unique Dog Hotel with online webcams and 'Play All Day' exercise facilities. We are all totally committed to providing the best possible dog boarding and training experience and will enter again next year."

Royvon Director and manager of the Merthyr Tydfil site Sarah Draper added, "We are very proud to be finalists for this award which follows years of investment in our premises and in staff development and training. We set high standards for ourselves and our track record of success is reflected in very high levels of customer satisfaction."
