Dog Ownership Licenses?

Royvon Dog Training Schools is exploring the organisation of what may be coined a "Dog Ownership License". Such a license would deter irresponsible dog ownership by requiring new owners to pass a short theory and handling test prior to purchasing their new puppy. It is likely that a short-list of breeds would be identified as priority candidates to ensure the owner is committed to understanding their long-term commitment to the dog's nature and nurture in order to co-exist in a safe domestic environment.

Dog licenses would not be exclusive to new puppy owners, with further thinking into dog obedience test requirements at 12 months, and again at two years (or older, in the case of rescue dogs). Assessments from the tests may additionally require muzzling in public, as the individual case dictates.

The Directors of Royvon understand that this will be a very difficult license to organise and implement, however is committed to the well-being of all dogs. Managing Director, Darren James states:

"This is something that we've been considering for quite some time, as our schools see many potentially dangerous dogs with unfortunate and damaging histories. We are in business to give these dogs a second chance. The current climate of these dogs has deeply saddens us and have made our commitment more pressing."

Darren understands that it will be a long and involved process and invites interested parties in visiting the web site for updates on their progress. Additionally he welcomes input on the Contact Us links within the site.

"As fellow dog people, it is our responsibility to pull together and make our environments safe for dogs and people."
