Royvon Schools News

Well Trained and Happy  Issue 1, Summer 2005

  Dear Readers,

Welcome to the first issue of our company newsletter. It is our intent to provide thorough dog-related updates, education and

entertainment through this quarterly, electronic medium. We will title these newsletters Royvon School News, which is a

shortened version of our company name, Royvon Dog Training Schools. And, since we are steadfast in our beliefs that a

well trained dog is a happy dog, we will subtitle our Royvon School News, “well trained and happy” - in honour of happy dogs

and happy owners… also, as well trained experts in the field, we are happy to share the endless benefits of owning a dog

that is under your control. For more information on our services, please visit our web sites, www.royvon.co.uk and

www.trainyourpuppy.co.uk. And, unless otherwise stated, please click the picture within each box for the complete story.

Schools News This past year has seen a metamorphosis of Royvon Dog Training Schools, in addition to our former Royvon Petcare Centre name change, we’ve introduced a unique and highly sophisticated customer communications systems; completely revised our web site, and developed a brand new web site geared toward owners of new puppies; produced two DVD’s; tripled our staff; committed to a Mission, and internal training programme of our own; mingled with celebrities; and were nominated for an award ...to mention just the really big stuff. Whilst some of the news stories are elaborated below, please click any of the highlighted words within this paragraph for more information on the areas of our business that are of interest to you.

If you are a fan of the widely popular Ant & Dec Saturday Night Takeaway, and even if you’re not, you will likely find the

behind-the-scenes version of our experience in the 19-26 February Puppy Training Challenge of interest. Whilst,

understandably, the producers of the show were concentrating on ratings, as responsible dog trainers & enthusiasts, our

primary focus was on the welfare of the puppies, Pudding & Ronnie. Of course, we wanted the Challenge to be a big hit, but

it was as important to ensure that the puppies, and owners of the puppies were having as good of time as we were.

Announcements  We are pleased to announce the recognition of Darren

James, as one of the two co-finalists for the Technology Wales 2005 (TWO5) Information

Communications Technology “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. This award identifies and recognises the

achievements of outstanding Welsh entrepreneurs within successful growing dynamic businesses.

Darren’s successes with Royvon demonstrate the ability to not only understand the sensitivities of the

customer within the structure of a residential training programme, but to creatively develop the

necessary solutions to effectively and efficiently communicate, educate and market the benefits of our services.

Rocky's Story

We dedicate our first newsletter training success story to Rocky, the rescue Rottweiler. There are three main

reasons why Rocky’s story is so important to share: First, because he was given a beautiful life by the family who

took the chance to rescue him; secondly, because he was a big, potentially dangerous dog, in need of training to

allow him to enjoy leisure activities with his family without the worry of his control; lastly, because Rocky’s life was

cut short by a very unusual case of a well-known disease. We hope that his story inspires our readers to not only

consider granting a dog a second chance, but to truly understand the binding power of obedience training. We also

take this as an opportunity to provide some education on an unfortunate, genetic health affliction imposed on many

dogs. (click picture for Rocky's story)

Training Insights If you think your dog understands English, or any words in the human sense at all, we’re sorry to tell you – they just don’t. Although dogs have been domesticated, like any other non-primate species, we are not related to them in any way, shape or form, (of course, other than the fact that many of us thrive in each other’s company). Because the success of our training stresses the importance of the use of the voice, here is a study on exactly why the canine responds to sounds, in other words, the tones of your voice, (but not really the words that are being used). The following are excerpts borrowed from The Other End of the Leash by Patricia B. McConnell: Click here for training insights.

Dog Haiku (click picture)

Haiku (hi ‘koo’) n. [Jpn] 1 a Japanese verse form, rendered in English as three unrhymed lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively

(total 17 syllables), often on some subject in nature. 2 a poem in this form.

Dog Haiku (dôg hi ‘koo’) n. [Canis] 1 a canine verse form, rendered in the spirit of the classical Japanese poetry. 2 how your dog

might express himself if he were a poet.

   Promotions
It has always been our policy to discourage the advertising of discounts, as we feel the perception of a discount when it comes to

the well-being of a pet cheapens the service and puts less value on the professionals that dedicate their lives to training dogs.

Whilst we do offer a 10% discount for booking two dogs, we believe this encourages multi-dog families to have their dogs trained

together, (which is better for the dogs). At the same time, there are some areas where we can offer cash back on a booking with-

out sacrificing any part of the service we provide. Please click here to learn more about our currently available promotions.
