ഀ ഀYes! Most importantly, a well trained dog is a happy dog. And, forഀ most of us, dogs are members of our family and of course we care aboutഀ their well-being! We also want to be able to walk, socialise, travelഀ and holiday with our dogs and not have to think about disastersഀ occurring because they are out of our control. It’s not only sociallyഀ unacceptable, it’s plain just not fun.ഀ ഀ
Dog training is not just for dogs already displaying problems,ഀ
and just because your dog is behaving now, does not mean that problemsഀ
won’t develop as the dog matures. Like children, behaviour modificationഀ
must be established and consistent, and when you learn how toഀ
communicate with your dog, and your dog is unde/pyour control at allഀ
times, you’ve created a bond and a relationship that will enrich yourഀ
life – forever!
ഀ
There are a lot of training methods out there, and it’sഀ perfectly normal to feel intimidated, or to admit that you don’t knowഀ where to start or what’s best for you and your dog. Following is a listഀ of frequently asked questions to help you know what to expect with theഀ Royvon Training Programme. We also encourage you to review our Trainingഀ page for a complete course overview and aftercare support.
ഀYou’ve invested in a dog, now invest in your future together!
ഀ ഀഀ The first 3 days of the course is an assessment period, and during thisഀ time we are able to determine your dog’s ultimate success probabilityഀ within the programme. There are 2 evaluating factors: the first is howഀ your dog is adapting to the new environment. If there is a continuedഀ high level of anxiety stress, then our methods have a less thanഀ opportune chance of registering with your dog. The second is if weഀ feel, for whatever extenuating reasons, unable to train the dog to ourഀ 100% standard. Both cases are extremely rare, in fact, less than 2% ofഀ trainee dogs are sent home following this assessment period. And,ഀ should there be an unfortunate case, the dog will be returned home atഀ our expense, a full deposit will be refunded and no further fees willഀ be expected.ഀ
ഀ ഀWell, yes, you can. However, here are some important facts for youഀ to consider before you take on the task. Dog psychology and training isഀ a work of art, a well-seasoned profession. Dogs, over time, have takenഀ a lot of abuse through irresponsible ownership and training. Someഀ breeds have gotten bad reputations as a result, and quite often at noഀ fault of their own. The time and energy to research a proper dogഀ training procedure, let alone practise is more than most people canഀ spare. And, when executed incorrectly, it puts unnecessary wear andഀ tear on your dog, not to mention can be very frustrating for you. Ourഀ team of Experts train dogs as efficiently, effectively and humanely asഀ possible, and provide you with the tools to keep your dog under yourഀ control for the rest of your lives together. It is a very smallഀ investment for a member of your family. Think very seriously if this isഀ something that is in the best interest of you and your dog.ഀ ഀ
ഀ ഀ ഀOur well-refined methods are based on timely, consistent, reward/noഀ reward reinforcement theories. No harsh methods are ever used. It is aഀ common misconception that a dog’s brain works much like a human brain,ഀ however the rules of communication between us are far from similar.ഀ Once you’ve channeled into a dog’s level of learning and understand theഀ procedures, the results will astound you! It is a definite,ഀ overwhelming feeling of pride for both you and your dog.ഀ
ഀ ഀYes, and here’s how it works: Each trainee dog is designated to oneഀ Royvon trainer. Although this is a necessary step for bonding purposes,ഀ your dog is not being taught to listen to just this one person, inഀ fact, quite the contrary – what your dog is really learning aഀ communication procedure from an expert in the field of study.ഀ Therefore, it is important for you to learn the procedure as well toഀ continue the success beyond the programme. Be prepared to spend the 3ഀ hours at our Centre at the end of the course for this purpose, and beഀ true to your new responsibility as your dog’s owner. We are always hereഀ to help you through the process, and we strongly encourage you to useഀ us as needed.
ഀ ഀഀ Once your dog passes the 3 day assessment period, we guarantee fullഀ control both on and off the lead at the conclusion of the courseഀ programme. A full demonstration of all your dog’s new skills will beഀ presented to you as such, complete with natural distractions as theyഀ would occur in an every day environment.ഀ ഀ
ഀ ഀWe accept dogs from the age of 6 months forward. Although there isഀ no upper limit, please understand that the older the dog, the longerഀ its had to settle into its behaviour. With that said, the ideal age isഀ between 8 months and 18 months. Breeds do differ in maturity, so ifഀ there is any apprehension for any reason, please contact us.ഀ
ഀ ഀWe have a collection service the covers all of the United Kingdom.ഀ Upon registration, convenient pick-up and delivery arrangements can beഀ made to the nearest Royvon training centre. This service is charged atഀ a rate of 25p per mile, plus tolls, where applicable. We do, however,ഀ encourage delivery by the owner as it gives the opportunity to surveyഀ our facility. It is important for both you and your dog to feel goodഀ about everything in regards to the training process.ഀ
ഀ ഀOur Centres will vary in size and staff. The maximum number of dogsഀ any one of our trainers would have in one month’s time is 10. And, evenഀ though your dog is assigned to one trainer, there are many other staffഀ members that contribute to your dog’s happiness and well-being whileഀ staying as a guest with us.ഀ
ഀ ഀNo. Learning to communicate with your dog means learning to shapeഀ and control your dog’s actions, not altering its inherent personality.ഀ Excitable, curious or aggressive dogs will return to you as they are,ഀ with the exception that you now have the ability to enter anyഀ environment with any distractions under your rules, not your dog’s.ഀ Highly stressed or anxious dogs, however, may experience benefits inഀ temperament through training because often times stress is a result ofഀ jumbled messages from the environment – when a communication procedureഀ is established and exercised, the world from your dog’s point of viewഀ isn’t so overwhelmingly frightful.
ഀ ഀഀ The Royvon Petcare Centre kennel accommodation was demolished andഀ rebuilt in 2000 to the strictest of standards. Our pledge to you is ourഀ commitment to ensure your dog’s stay be a happy, healthy and safe one.ഀ You are welcome to visit our facilities with no prior appointment.
ഀ ഀഀ Part of Royvon’s success is due to the extensive communication betweenഀ you and your dog’s assigned trainer throughout the entire trainingഀ process. Usually from as early as the moment of first inquiry to ourഀ training programme through your dog’s post-training aftercare, we willഀ glean and thoroughly understand your dog’s behavioural traits and yourഀ subsequent challenges. At every stage you will be aware of what toഀ expect from us and what is to be expected from you. This includesഀ telephone or email updates during the training course itself, and ourഀ continued support as needed from there forward.ഀ
ഀ ഀAs a company, we do not have a problem with the use of check chainsഀ when they are used correctly. However, in the hands of irresponsible orഀ “hack” handlers this method can be harmful, therefore is viewedഀ negatively within some training circles. We would never recommend theഀ use of a check chain unless one of our expert personnel has trained theഀ owner first.
ഀ ഀഀ All of our Centres are, and will be held under the same, strict setഀ standard. Every dog trainer and member of our staff have received theഀ same level of training and have been recruited specifically for theirഀ ability to carry out the duties and responsibilities of their job. Youഀ can be assured that all staff under the Royvon umbrella areഀ professionals in their field. Our Pledge is our commitment to ensureഀ that your pet’s stay with us is a happy, healthy and safe one. Visitsഀ to our facilities are encouraged, no prior appointment necessary.ഀ
ഀ ഀOf course! But, please be assured that our training is in a lovingഀ and caring environment. Your dog will be in a comfortable and cleanഀ accommodation, and kept quite happy and busy with training and otherഀ activities.ഀ
ഀ ഀControlling the distracting influences of your dog’s environmentഀ immediately puts focus on the attention of the trainer. This attentionഀ then becomes an inherent, repeated reward that helps to mold theഀ communication procedure process. Thus, training is an enjoyableഀ experience from the get go, and new distractions can then be introducedഀ without disturbing the interest your dog has with learning andഀ ultimately being predictably obedient.
ഀ ഀഀ Our 3 week course is £550 +VAT, and our 10-day, more intensive course,ഀ is £508 +VAT. Our fees cover, full accommodation, training and tuitionഀ for the owner at the conclusion of the course. Delivery service isഀ extra and charged at 25p per mile, plus toll, where applicable
