Dog Training for Weimaraners and puppies
 |
Weimaraners are ideal candidates for dog training as although this is a highly capable breed it is often difficult to manage - not because it's a bad dog, rather in consideration of the following breed characteristics:
- Require extensive exercise: No walk is too long
- Often high-strung and rambunctious, most especially in their first year
- Known to be protective and territorial
- Have a high prey drive
- They are fast & powerful
|
These are not bad characteristics, they just require patient, firm, but kind Weimaraner dog training. These characteristics also make them particularly well suited to recall training. Also know that the Weimaraner is a very good problem-solver, thus by training Weimaraners they can and will learn how to be calm and follow instruction, all whilst assuming the role of the aristocratic dog they were meant to be.
Royvon Dog Training Schools sees a fair share of Weimaraners on our dog training courses because they have such a regal presence and when appropriately trained, they are alert, responsive and exceptionally capable. Royvon's Weimaraner dog training can help bring out these desirable qualities. They can also be aloof to strangers, which is an appreciated trait for those who don't care to own a socially needy pet, yet still have the energy and desire to work, play and keep up with an active agenda.
Royvon specialise in recall training for Weimaraners.

Breed Awareness/Management |
Due to predatory instincts and an exceptional sense of smell, the Weimaraner is likely to roam and hunt. |
A safe, fenced space for exercise is highly recommended, as is closely monitoring this breed around small pets like cats and rabbits. |
An indulged, under-trained and/or overly-confined Weimaraner will likely get the better of you through unchannelled energy that may result in hyperactive, destructive and difficult to control behaviour. |
The Weimaraner needs time, space and exercise, and as important, intense, experienced Weimaraner obedience training from an established leader. |
Primarily owned and worked by aristocracy, the Weimaraner has been bred to respond to specific care and attention.
|
The owner who gives this breed proper exercise and training will be rewarded with a loyal, capable and regal Weimaraner with great presence and character. |
